Dear Tom;
Having spent 15 years with NW Natural, all of which were within the sales and marketing arena, I've seen and participated in too many workshops. I state "too many" because of the repetitive subject matter, ineffective and quasi-trained leaders of the workshop, and the common theme of disappointment after spending the grueling day. However, I found your workshop to be just the opposite.
There are several items that I wish to share with you that I felt made your workshop unique and effective. First, I found the format of food service to be an extremely accurate analogy given the fact that food and service are items we need and perform daily, even if it is just to ourselves. The content and/or message was better received under this style by forcing the group to step outside the box and analyze their practices from a different perspective. Second, you had just the right amount of attendee interaction to continue keeping their attention throughout the day. Third, the "story telling" brought the points across well and entertained the group. Your style of delivery was such that everyone was riveted to your story and therefore open to hear the message built within the tale. And last, your professionalism, high energy, preparedness and content knowledge depth, made it easy for the group to relate their experiences to your information and motivate change.
The success of the workshop was best measured by the change within the group. Obviously change is an individual thing, each member of the group had varying levels. However, the fact is, overall the group has changed the way they do business, in particular the improved interaction within the group and within the various departments they interact with. I'm pleased with the results and found the time and resources invested in the workshop to be very worth while. I look forward to our next opportunity to bring you onboard.
